FLYSAFE Project Conference held in France

On June 16–17, 2009, in Toulouse (France) a conference of EC FP6 FLYSAFE Project partners was held jointly with EC representatives.

The FLYSAFE Project is aimed at creating the integrated air systems for enhancing the flight safety in all weather conditions and for protecting against accidents.

Six WP Leaders presented the engineering documentation and the reports on the work completed over 4.5 years of the project. In order to prepare the summary report a decision was made to shift the project deadline from June to August 2009. At the conclusion of the conference the EC Supervisors underlined the importance of the fact that the final results demonstrated the need to continue the activities on flight safety. The results can be used as a basis for the FLYSAFE-2 Project feasibility study.

The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute is involved in four of six WPs. The specialists of the Institute contributed to research and computation of vortex wake, flight safety versus lay of land and obstacles, simulating the safe landing approach system through the TsAGI PSPK-102 Flight Simulator and the heading wake-warning system.
